Nico Guilis was born in Los Angeles and raised near Malibu. Inspired as a child by both her weekly oil painting classes and her mother’s makeup studio, Nico surmised that makeup was merely painting on the face. By the age of 14, she was working in her mother’s studio as a makeup artist.
Shortly after Nico enrolled in the art program at Cal State University Long Beach, majoring in art history with concentration in photography and film, she was awarded the position as the Los Angeles lead for Tony and Tina. After a couple of years with the company and over thirty fashion shows, Nico completed her degree and moved to New York where she began assisting top makeup artists including Aaron De Mey, Dick Page,Gucci Westman, and Lisa Houghton.contributing to W covers, Vogue, Italian Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Numero, and innumerable fashion shows including Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and J. Mendell.
With this invaluable inspiration and experience behind her Nico has developed her own flawless style in a quickly expanding solo career. She is behind for the red carpet looks for clients such as Dree Hemingway, Freida Pinto, Ellen Page, Alexis Bledel, and Katherine Heigl and has worked with photographers such as Kenneth Cappello, Jason Nocito, Giles Bensimon, Hilary Walsh, and Derek Kettela. Her work can be seen on the pages of Allure, Rolling Stone, Spin, Japanese Vogue, Nylon and Nylon Guys, Vanity Fair, and People.
After living for a time in Paris, Nico now resides in NYC full time.
